Lexie Janda

Patent Agent

Lexie Janda brings her background in chemical engineering to assist clients in protecting their valuable inventions and processes from unfair infringement and duplication. Recently admitted as a patent agent, Lexie is ready to bring her education and industry experience to work on behalf of The Dobrusin Law Firm’s clients.

During her time in school, Lexie participated in numerous internships and co-ops. Specifically, she worked in the chemical industry and gained experience in production engineering and regulatory compliance. Her work also gave her an in-depth understanding of the specialty chemical compositions used in the automotive sector. Additionally, Lexie practiced strong technical writing while editing a thermo-chemical textbook for her professor. While not studying and working, Lexie also started and ran her own choreography company.

After she graduated from Michigan State University with her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 2021, Lexie continued her work as an engineer in the chemical industry. Through her professional experience, Lexie gained an understanding of the principles of chemical measurement. She acquired experience in spectroscopy, the study of how light and radiation interact with matter. This enables engineers like Lexie to determine the molecular makeup of a substance based on how the molecules found in the substance absorb, emit, or reflect radiation.

Following her work experience, Lexie was admitted to practice as a patent agent before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

In addition, Lexie is a member of the Society of Women Engineers and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. During her work experiences, she was an active member of diversity and inclusion efforts as well as women-based mentoring programs.
