We are proud to announce that Michigan Lawyers Weekly selected Dobrusin Law Firm shareholder Paul Palinski to the 2019 class of “Up & Coming Lawyers.” He received his award at a luncheon at the Detroit Marriott in Troy on December 5, 2019.
Paul has become recognized in the legal community as a thoughtful problem-solver and trusted colleague. A registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, he concentrates his practice on patent counseling and strategic patent prosecution, with an emphasis on mechanical, electromechanical, and biomedical technologies.
According to Michigan Lawyers Weekly, the honor is bestowed upon attorneys “who are establishing a name for themselves, go above and beyond, and display the ambition, drive, determination, and accomplishments that set them apart among their peers — in their first ten years in practice.”
Paul has always been intrigued by new and emerging technology, manufacturing methods and systems, engineering, and design, but he says the most fulfilling part of his job is meeting with first-time inventors to learn about their innovations. One particularly rewarding matter came early in his legal career. The client invented a device to protect students and teachers from active shooter situations in schools. He saw the value in the product and believed in it and the inventors. The product was eventually commercialized and sold to schools, and it is currently available for purchase.
Outside the office, Paul enjoys giving back to his profession and helping his community. He regularly presents seminars to entrepreneurs and startups in Metro Detroit on the basics of patent law at WeWork. Paul is also a board member at the McLaren Oakland Foundation, which obtains funds through charitable donations used for enhancing patient care, performing healthcare research, providing health-related education, purchasing clinical equipment, and building new facilities.
Congratulations, Paul, on this distinguished honor!
