The Dobrusin Law Firm Among Sponsors of 2024 Women Lawyers of Michigan Foundation Scholarships

Every spring, the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan (WLAM) Foundation awards scholarships to law students who demonstrate exceptional leadership abilities, a commitment to their communities and diversity, and a potential for advancing women in the legal field.

The WLAM Foundation works with several sponsors who make the scholarship program possible. Through the generosity of these sponsors, law students can receive aid to support their continued success in their studies and propel them forward into their careers. We are honored to be a part of the scholarship program for another year and look forward to its continued success.

2024 Awards for Outstanding Law Students

This year, the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation has generously provided the opportunity for outstanding law students to receive $45,500 in scholarship funds. These funds will be awarded to 13 law students attending accredited law schools in Michigan.

Among the available awards, The Dobrusin Law Firm has its own scholarship. This scholarship awards $3,500 to a student attending Michigan State University College of Law, University of Michigan Law School, Cooley Law School, University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, or Wayne State University Law School. The awardee must be enrolled in law school full- or part-time, be in good academic standing, and show a significant interest in promoting female entrepreneurship and/or women in business.

Scholarships will be awarded in May. The scholars, their loved ones, and law school representatives are invited to attend a special event recognizing the awardees in conjunction with the WLAM annual meeting.

This Year’s Dobrusin Law Firm Scholarship Recipient

This year, the recipient of The Dobrusin Law Firm Scholarship is Samantha Hulliberger, a Cooley Law School student expected to receive her Juris Doctor in 2024.

Samantha is an Air Force JAG Corps One Year College Program (OYCP) selectee, assuring her a position as a JAG upon successful completion of a one-year Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) program, law school, and legal licensing requirements.

While Samantha demonstrates academic excellence, her real-world experience is equally impressive. Her work includes serving as a legal student assistant for the Michigan Department of Attorney General, externing for the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps, and interning for Representative Pete Olson [Rep.-R-TX-22]. Across these roles, she assisted in hearings and trials, assisted with court-martial preparations, and drafted executive-level correspondence for the U.S. House of Representatives. She has applied these skills to her law school career as well, serving as the Managing Articles Editor for the Cooley Law Review and a teaching assistant for multiple classes and participating in Moot Court competitions. She has also proven to be a strong leader, serving as president of the Michigan Student Bar Association.

With such a storied experience for someone of her age, we are fascinated with Samantha’s vast accomplishments and look forward to her future with great interest.

Bench-Bar Culinary Challenge Benefiting the WLAM Foundation Scholarship Fund

The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation Awards for Outstanding Law Students would not be possible without the generosity of sponsors and contributors. To continue supporting law students in the future, the WLAM Foundation is excited to announce the 15th Annual Bench-Bar Culinary Challenge, which will be held on June 6, 2024. Proceeds will benefit the WLAM Foundation Scholarship Fund and Alternatives for Girls. Our own Kristen Pursley is on the planning committee for this popular event and is the immediate past president of the WLAM Foundation.
